hello all
it’s been a while since i posted so i thought that i’d publish one.
I’ve moved into my new place. It’s my grandma’s place and it hasn’t been lived in for a few years so I thought i’d take this place. it’s nice and comfortable and i’ve gotten used to it. I had to buy some stuff to make it livable.
a bed (from keetsa.com) i got the keetsa pillow plus cal king size. so nice i love it. although it is a bit pricey but i’m happy with my purchase. bedding i got from bed bath and beyond
a tv. got a 47 inch Vizio LED LCD tv from costco. yes i finally became a costco member (salute to the trips). I like it and my ps3 comes across really nice on it. and it’s a good deal compared to the other brandy tv’s.
i got comcast internet (no tv or phone). i figure i’d just get netflix and play games on my tv when i want to. i don’t know how many of you know but netflix has this new thing where you can stream movies/tv shows over the internet. so all i do is take this special disc that netflix gave me, pop it into my ps3, and then i can get stuff streamed straight from my ps3’s internet connection onto my tv. netflix’s “watch right now” selection isn’t as big as their regular dvd library but hopefully it’ll get larger as time goes by.
and i got a shoe rack and laundry bag from ikea yesterday. and some bowls and stuff from clement street. so yes it’s looking quite nice and comfortable
i must say it’s very nice to have a laundry/dryer in your own unit. so convenient that you can just throw stuff in there and wash it whenever you want.
so yes, the next thing im considering is getting a car. yes i’m still looking at the GTI. i;’m looking at the 2010 GTI. i went to the dealership a few weeks ago and picked out a model. Carbon Steel Grey, 4 dr, automatic, pretty much fully loaded except without navigation. it comes into san diego on 22 Feb. the dealer gave me an ok price ($30,010). i think i could argue him maybe one grand more off. i was looking at americanexpress online and i noticed they have this car shopping tool (http://amexnetwork.zag.com/main.html). you put in what car you want and it’ll give you a pre-negotiated price that you can take to participating dealers and they have to honour it. pretty cool huh. and the price that i got from amex is cheaper than the one the sf dealer gave me so maybe i can use that in my negotiations.
but then there’s other costs that are making me hesitate from getting a car 1) parking. apparently even though my grandmother bought this place, it doesn’t come with a car parking lot. i have to pay monthly. i havn’t really looked into this. but i think it might be somethign like $100-200 a month.
2) car insurance. i phoned geico and progressive a couple weeks ago and they gave me around $250 a month which i found quite surprising. twins/steph/jolin; do you guys remember how much you paid for your car insurance?
