Saints for the win

hello all

it’s been a while since i posted so i thought that i’d publish one.

I’ve moved into my new place. It’s my grandma’s place and it hasn’t been lived in for a few years so I thought i’d take this place. it’s nice and comfortable and i’ve gotten used to it. I had to buy some stuff to make it livable.

a bed (from keetsa.com) i got the keetsa pillow plus cal king size. so nice i love it. although it is a bit pricey but i’m happy with my purchase. bedding i got from bed bath and beyond

a tv. got a 47 inch Vizio LED LCD tv from costco. yes i finally became a costco member (salute to the trips). I like it and my ps3 comes across really nice on it. and it’s a good deal compared to the other brandy tv’s.

i got comcast internet (no tv or phone). i figure i’d just get netflix and play games on my tv when i want to.  i don’t know how many of you know but netflix has this new thing where you can stream movies/tv shows over the internet. so all i do is take this special disc that netflix gave me, pop it into my ps3, and then i can get stuff streamed straight from my ps3’s internet connection onto my tv. netflix’s “watch right now” selection isn’t as big as their regular dvd library but hopefully it’ll get larger as time goes by.

and i got a shoe rack and laundry bag from ikea yesterday. and some bowls and stuff from clement street. so yes it’s looking quite nice and comfortable

i must say it’s very nice to have a laundry/dryer in your own unit. so convenient that you can just throw stuff in there and wash it whenever you want.

so yes, the next thing im considering is getting a car. yes i’m still looking at the GTI. i;’m looking at the 2010 GTI. i went to the dealership a few weeks ago and picked out a model. Carbon Steel Grey, 4 dr, automatic, pretty much fully loaded except without navigation. it comes into san diego on 22 Feb. the dealer gave me an ok price ($30,010).  i think i could argue him maybe one grand more off.  i was looking at americanexpress online and i noticed they have this car shopping tool (http://amexnetwork.zag.com/main.html). you put in what car you want and it’ll give you a pre-negotiated price that you can take to participating dealers and they have to honour it. pretty cool huh. and the price that i got from amex is cheaper than the one the sf dealer gave me so maybe i can use that in my negotiations.

but then there’s other costs that are making me hesitate from getting a car 1) parking. apparently even though my grandmother bought this place, it doesn’t come with a car parking lot. i have to pay monthly. i havn’t really looked into this. but i think it might be somethign like $100-200 a month.

2) car insurance. i phoned geico and progressive a couple weeks ago and they gave me around $250 a month which i found quite surprising. twins/steph/jolin; do you guys remember how much you paid for your car insurance?

Happy Birthday Kimmmy

Happy Birthday Dear Kim

I hope you are having fun in Vietnam.

Enjoy your trip and most important of all, enjoy your birthday.

Get away you weird people.

Again, I see this blog dying.

Anyway, just sent out my applications (not all of them though) and just waiting to hear from the schools probably by the end of Feb or beginning of March.

Recently I’ve been wondering why people come to me for all kinds of consultations. I mean the feeling that people actually think i am wise enough to give me suggestions but I dont like the feeling when people i dont know really well actually comes to bother me. (If you’ve never been one of my friends, why should I bother answering your questions?) Recently, this guy from our school which I do not mention his name just MSN me. He was like “Hello, Jolin. What have you been doing? Any girls to introduce to me?” and I was like…”err…i dont know which kinda girl you like (and i dont really know you that well.)” He said “oh, what about xxx(a name of a girl), what about her?” I said “she’s attached.” He then continued on searching and going through my friendlists on fb and started asking one after one. (He actually asked for information of like 15 girls….) “They all have bfs.” (I wasn’t lying, those he picked were all taken.) Then he said “WHY DONT YOU JUST PICK ONE FOR ME?!”

God, i have no idea what is wrong with this guy.

Here comes another case.

One of my friends who is not that close to me MSNed me as well the other day.

“Hello, do you know scorpio girl well?”

“No, not really.”

“Then what do you think of this situation? This girl said she liked me but whenver i asked her out, she always had excuses not to go out with me.”

“She is just not that into u.”

“really?! but she send me mails, talks to me on the phone, sometimes we eat together……so on and so on.”

“she is just NOT that into u.”

“really, but she said she liked me.”

“she likes u but she is NOT that into u.”

“then what should i do?”

“tolerate it or leave it.”

“how can u do so?”

“its just like that. TAKE IT and wait or leave it and cry.”

“but she said she liked me, what should i do? can you give me some suggestions?”

“…….” (Felt tired and helpless.)

so the conversation went on and on, but i guess he was either blind or deaf or too in love that he just COULDn’t see the sentense.

SHE IS JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU

And few more cases came to me to consult but it wasnt as annoying. coz the rest were like my close friends. I just want to tell people that, if you want to receive helps from others, make sure you are really close friends with them especially on these matters….such as love and relationship, introducing gf/bf…

Alright, guess everyones been busy.hope to see you all soon.

Nathan’s going to australia on tuesday for bz trip, if trips wanna pay visit to him, he’s in Sydney. (he was gonna go to melbourned but the plan changed.) well, i dont know how far it is from sydnet to melbourne but i guess since I am not there, u guys probably wont be bothered to go all the way. HA

Take care you all.

love, J.

Australian Open

I realized I haven’t blogged here for a longgggg time! You guys must have missed me (oh you better..:P) Anyway, not much going on here in Australia. Except that Australian Open is on for more than a week now. We have actually went to see some matches on Day 6. We purchased some ground passes, which allowed us to watch matches through out the day at the arena (well not the Rod Laver Arena though.) We actually wanted to get those quarter / semi finals or finals tickets, but those are all sold out when we went to purchase them. So, we ended with these ground passes. I so want to see Federer play LIVE! Oh well, maybe next year? Anyway, the tournament has been really exciting! Rafael Nadal retired during 3rd set due to knee injury, which is kind of disappointing, and yet his opponent last night Andy Murray was at his top form. He has a good chance to enter the finals, but still Federer will finish him by then!

Coincidentally, yesterday was Australia day. And, we had a 4 day weekend – kind of relaxing yet becoming more lazy during holidays. They had this amazing fireworks down at Eureka Tower (in the city) while the game of Nadal V Murray was going on, and they stopped for awhile to appreciate the fireworks.

Anyway, nothing much is happening besides this, oh and Ethel is here again – this time will probably be for quite some time as she is starting her child care courses soon! So it’s yay for Georgie! :) I am still having a school holiday for my photography course till Feb 11th. Will update you guys on what’s happening soon again ya?

Hope everyone is well, and miss you all as usual!!!!!!

Steph – good luck on feb 6th for the CPA last test! you can DO it! :)

Jojo – are you done with your applications? Let us know when you hear from any of the schools, i am excited to know where you will be going!

guys…

Just want to say hi to all of you here! My computer broke down two days ago ‘cuz the hard drive is f-ing broken..so this kinda sucks…

anyway, miss you all a lot and will talk to you guys soon!

Have a happy January People.

Hello all:

I am glad to see all the missing ones started blogging.

I just sent out my first application, coz the deadline is jan 15th. I will keep on sending out my applications to other schools, and at the time being, I can only pray.

I am going to HK this weekend (anyone???) with Nathan and my family. First time ever we all will be traveling together, i guess it’s a little milestone in our relationship.

One of my girl pals who studies in UK came back for vacation last week and she told us she wants to marry her boyfriend of three months. Obviously, we all rejected this ridiculous idea. There were couples of 7 years, 3 years and 2 year while we discussed this issue, and sarcastically, none of us has the urge to get married. Though we all thought three months is way too early to talk about marriage, none of us has answer to how long you should go out before marrying him or her.  However, I’ve also been wondering…is she rushing or are we hesitating? How come we just dont have the urge to tie the nod? Maybe Alice and William could answe this question for me. What made you guys know that he/she is the one? or what was the thought in your mind when you think of marrying each other?

And, as some of you want to know, my wedding will be in 2012, when the world ends. Heh.

Have a wonderful January. I heard its hot in Melbourne, so enjoy the beach guys. Not sure bout u guys in SF, but i  suppose its cold. Singapore is def hot and i know shou is very used to it. Ning is dying in Shanghai with her dog. She told me it was freezing. It’s really cold here too, the coldest this year…..8 degree in TPE and 6.5 degree in DanShuei.

Take care all.

Love, J.

Happy Birthday Happy Stephanie, hope you have a blast today with whoever you are celebrating with.

Hope every wish of yours comes true this year and hope you get to stay in the states as you desire.

how’s your 2010 been?

Good to see people starting to get active on this blog once again after 2010 came. It’s always nice to see some updates from you all. As you guys know, we the tan family have recently traveled to Malaysia, Hong Kong and China for holiday. It was quite a nice holiday except it was undoubtedly tiring. I felt so restless throughout the whole trip but the happiest part of the trip was being able to see my family again! It’s so hard to live so far away from them, and only be able to see them few times each year. Anyway, had some good memories this trip, was able to see where William grew up at in Malaysia. Well, it’s not my favourite place but it was fun to travel. Now we are back in reality, 2010 has come and we are back to work! Can’t wait for another trip to come!

BTW, may i get your attention please?, SEPTEMBER 12th, 2010 is William and My wedding banquet in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We hope to see you there, and please arrange your tickets as soon as your possible to save the best price tickets. Let us know if you will be there for us or not? I know Mark is coming for sure, and our friend Thanapon (T-dog as mark will call him) will be there for sure as well. Please confirm your attendance! LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL! miss you guys a lot and hopefully this will be our reunion!!!!

If you have not checked out (or unable to check out) my albums from the trip on facebook, there are some selected photos posted on my blog at http://alicechiongphotography.wordpress.com
For those who doesn’t have facebook – aka MARK – maybe it’s time to sign up to see my photos!! yay! :)

A new year with a new hope, hope you all have a wonderful year and all the best guys!

Let’s create some good memories together for next years to talk about! Take care guys!
